Mr. Michael Kirkhart showed his professional commitment to the education of chapter members and will be honored by a donation in his name to the IEEE EMC Society President’s Memorial Scholarship Fund. Michael gave a presentation to the chapter on February March 15, 2024 entitled: Nano VNA.

presentation to the chapter on September 21, 2023 entitled: Utilizing Dynamic Road
Condition Scenarios to Automate Battery-Electric Vehicle Testing.

Dr. Candace Suriano, Vice Chair of the Southeastern Michigan EMC Society Chapter 8,

Jim Woodyard, EMC Chapter 8 Awards Vice-Chair, presenting Scott Lytle, EMC Chapter 8 Chair, with a Leadership Award on behalf of the Chapter for his many years of service.  Under Scott’s leadership, the Annual EMC Fest Conference has grown from a few Chapter members to drawing over two-hundred attendees, and several exhibitors. The presentation was made during the awards ceremony at the 2019 EMC Fest Conference held in Livonia, Michigan on May 9, 2019.


Jim Woodyard, EMC Chapter 8 Awards Vice-Chair, presenting Candace Suriano, EMC Chapter 8 Technical Activities Vice-Chair, with the 2019 Excellence in Service Award Leadership Award on behalf of the Chapter for “for over 15 years of Service to the Chapter and continued pursuit of excellence in all that she undertakes especially for youth STEM Programs in local libraries and schools. The presentation was made during the awards ceremony at the 2019 EMC Fest Conference held in Livonia, Michigan on May 9, 2019.


Matt Feusse, EMC Chapter 8 Treasurer, congratulating Dr. Eric Bogatin and informing him that his professional commitment to the education of chapter members will be honored with a donation in his name to the University of Colorado-Boulder Foundation for supporting student research.  Dr. Bogatin was the 2019 EMC Fest Conference speaker; the title of his presentation was “Illustrating Signal and Power Integrity Principles through Measurement Examples”.  The Conference was held on May 9, 2019 in Livonia, Michigan.


That the Wayne County Commission salutes and commends KIMBALL WILLIAMS for his community service and career in engineering; and be it further resolved on this 9th day of May 2019, that this resolution be spread at length upon the journal of this day’s proceedings to endure as a lasting record of acknowledgement and that a suitable copy be presented to KIMBALL WILLIAMS, with our best wishes for many years to him and his wife Mary Lou.

Jim Woodyard (l.), Awards Director of the Southeastern Michigan EMC Society (Chapter 8), congratulating Mr. Colin Brench upon informing him that his professional commitment to the education of Chapter members will be honored by a donation in his name to the IEEE EMC Society President’s Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Brench gave series of talks during the EMC Fest 2018 Conference entitled: The Art and Science of EMC Design.  The talks explored the strengths and weaknesses of many tools, including traditional rules, common design guidelines, analytic techniques, and computational modeling.

Over two hundred engineers and vendors attended the one-day conference held on May 10, 2018 at the Embassy Suites, Livonia, Michigan.

Frank Sabath, President EMC Society, presenting to Mark Steffka the 2016 Laurence G. Cumming Award for Outstanding Service.  The award plaque citation is “For outstanding service to the EMC community, significantly in the area of EMC education.”  The award was presented at the EMC 2016 Conference on July 28, 2016 at The Westin Hotel in Ottawa, Canada.

Mark has been a significant contributor to the EMC society since 2001.  He chaired the first IEEE Southeastern Michigan EMC Fest which is now held annually by the EMC Chapter with more than 100 in attendance.  He has served the EMC Society as chair of a number of symposia and technical sessions; chaired the Education & Student Activities Committee for over four years; and served as an Distinguished Lecturer.

Cyrous Rostamzadeh receiving the 2015 IEEE Region 4 Outstanding Professional Award from Bob Parro,  R4 Director.  The award was presented on January 30, 2016 at the 2016 IEEE Regions 4, 5 & 6 Joint Meeting which was held in Las Vegas.

The award citation is “Who, through his technical abilities and leadership has made significant contribution to the engineering profession.  His example and dedication to the profession has inspired all who know him, and to lead them in the furthering of the high standards of the engineering profession as prescribed by the IEEEE.

Congratulations to Scott Lytle for Receiving the IEEE 2015 Sustained Service to the EMC Society Award

Jim Woodyard, EMC Chapter VIII Awards Director, presenting to Scott Lytle, on behalf of the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society, the 2015 Sustained Service to the EMC Society Award. The award was presented at the October 7th IEEE SEM EMC Chapter VIII meeting. The award was announced in August at the EMC 2015 Symposium held in Dresden. The award citation reads: For service since 2000, successfully leading the Southeastern Michigan EMC Chapter to become the most successful Chapter in the Section and also spearheading each year’s very successful “EMC Fest.” Scott is the current chair of the chapter and has served continuously as chair for the past 15 years.

Congratulations to Scott Lytle for Receiving the 2015 ESD Outstanding MemberAward

Dr. Nicholas Langhals, Vice Chair off the IEEE Southeastern Michigan (IEEE SEM) Section, presenting the 2015 ESD Outstanding Member Award to Scott Lytle for outstanding contributions to the success of IEEE SEM activities. The award was presented at the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) 2015 Gold Banquet on March 11, 2015.  Scott has been chair of the IEEE SEM Chapter 8 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society since 2008. His leadership has resulted in the chapter being the most successful chapter in IEEE SEM as measured by membership, monthly technical programs and community outreach educational programs.  He has spearheaded the chapter’s annual EMCFest which draws internationally known EMC speakers and EMC vendors.  The EMCFest serves to generate revenue for the chapter’s programs and maintain a high interest level of the membership.

Congratulations to James Muccioli for Receiving the IEEE Region 4 Outstanding Professional Award.

James Muccioli received the 2012 IEEE Region 4 Outstanding Professional Award for the development of innovative EMC testing methods used widely in EMC testing.  He has also contributed to the wider technical community through teaching and committee service.  The award was presented on April 18, 2013 at the IEEE Southeastern Michigan Spring 2013 Conference.

 

Biographical Statement

James Muccioli received the B.S.E.E. Degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn; the M.S.E.E. from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor; and is an IEEE Fellow.  He held a number of technical positions with Chrysler Corporation; was Chief Technology Officer at X2Y Attenuators, LLC; and is currently a consultant at Jastech EMC Consulting, LLC.  He has been active in the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) branch of Electrical Engineering; participated in the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE); been involved in the development of international EMC standards; participated in numerous symposia; and taught short courses in EMC technology.  While at Chrysler Corporation he was a Senior Engineering Specialist and responsible for the development of both the EMC test capability and the current International SAE Automotive EMC Standards.
