POSITION:
EMC Test Engineer
REPORTS TO: Test/Lab Supervisor
OVERVIEW:
Create EMC Test Plans, Perform EMC testing, and coordinate all EMC testing needed. Support product development by building product samples and performing engineering development, design verification, production validation, product conformance, or analysis testing. Build and maintain test fixtures needed to develop new products for production and verify that present and future products meet or exceed customer required specifications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create EMC Test Plans, Perform EMC testing , Coordinate all EMC testing needed, Participate in Product EMC Design Reviews.
Testing, annual Product Validation: performing electrical, mechanical and environmental testing per customer specification on any HEC product, to meet annual certification requirements issued by the customer.
Testing, Laboratory: perform testing of device components and completed devices according to published instructions and recording results of said tests.
Failure Analysis: perform analysis of all test failures. Perform root cause analysis of such failures, providing information to assist in correcting deficiencies and provide information to appropriate departments.
Report/Procedure Writing: Issue written reports of experiments performed and data collected. Develop written procedures.
Consult with hardware design engineer on initial stages of design to maximize EMC guidelines. Consult with hardware design team for corrections and optimization of EMC profile during validation.
Equipment Maintenance: perform routine maintenance on al laboratory equipment including analysis of schematics and repairing. Such other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.
Assist with training where appropriate and needed.
Follow necessary processes to comply with A2LA standards. Assist in A2LA Accreditation .
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL USED IN PERFORMING THE JOB:
Various EMI test equipment: Spectrum Analyzer, ESD, Pulse Generators, Transients Measurement Equipment, RF Measurement Equipment, etc.
Basic Electronic equipment: Oscilloscope, Resistance Bridge, Semiconductor Curve Tracer, DC Capacitance Bridge, Analog and Digital Multimeters, Function Generator, Various Electronic Gages and Hand Tools, Computerized Equipment.
Computer with word processing, spread sheet and data collection software, hand tools and miscellaneous power tools.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Seven (7) to Ten (10) years experience in testing with minumum of Seven (7) years in EMC testing
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering/Technology or related field

EMC Simulation Engineer – Grand Rapids, MI
Primary responsibility is to simulate and
evaluate electrical systems in order to proactively reduce the likelihood of
electromagnetic interference issues. Will serve as the EMC technical leader in
the Design group, ensuring that designs are optimized for EMC.
Key responsibilities include providing simulations on conceptual designs,
providing guidance on schematic, printed circuit board and harness
configuration, participating in system architecture activities during new
product development, providing PDN guidance and investigating EMI issues on
existing products.
The ideal candidate must have a BS in Electrical Engineering with a
concentration in Electromagnetics combined with 3+ years of industry experience
in EMC. Candidates with a MS in Electrical Engineering with post graduate
studies in Electromagnetics will also be considered.

EMC Technician for 2-4 month contract position in Rockford, IL – Starting in April.
State of the Art lab looking for experienced EMC technicians for a 2-4 month contract position testing large aerospace power generation / distribution systems. MIL/Aero experience preferred testing to DO-160E/F and/or MIL-461. Looking for 5+ years EMC experience – need to be able to setup and run tests with little or no supervision. Could lead to a permanent position. We are a 24x7 operation, so weekend or night work will be required.
Duties:
Set up and perform EMC tests in accordance with customer test plan
Properly document testing (pictures, daily logs, test data)
Great to have:
Experience with TILE software and MS Office

EMI Technician
The Candidate will be responsible for:
-Set up test articles in EMI Chamber
-Perform required EMI tests either using the Automated TILE Software or
manually
-Maintain the list of lab equipment and identify those items due calibration
-Photograph test setups using digital camera
-Document all test results on lab data sheets
-Assist is preparing EMI Test Reports

qualifications:
- NARTE accredited EMI Technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Familiar with testing to the various versions of MIL-STD-461.
- Capable of setup and performing EMI tests with a minimum or no supervision.
- Active SECRET clearance.
- TEMPEST testing experience a plus.
- Associates Degree (or the equivalent in work experience and training)
required, Bachelors -Degree a plus.
Experience with Mil STD 461 would be ideal
NARTE (National Association of Radio and Telecom Engineers)
Experience with TEMPEST testing experience is also highly desirable
