The Leadership Skills
workshop is intended to help prepare participants in
interpersonal, group, team and leadership skills. The workshop is
targeted to those in management or leadership roles in business,
industry, academia or volunteer activities. However, anyone
interested in further developing these skills in dealing with
people and working within any type of organization will benefit
from the workshop. The format for the workshop includes the
presentation of the core material and interactive participation;
using exercises, case studies and open discussion.

Speaker Bio:
Don received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a MBA, in
1973 and 1981 respectively, both from the University of Detroit.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan.
Don has spent his entire 33 year professional engineering career
in the energy industry, both in the natural gas industry with
Michigan Consolidated Gas and Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company,
and then in the nuclear power and fossil power generation segments
of the electric utility industry with Detroit Edison. Don is
presently a Project Engineer in Fossil Power Generation with the
Detroit Edison Company, a major subsidiary of DTE Energy.
Don is a Senior member of IEEE, and has been an IEEE member for 39
years.
Don has been actively involved as a volunteer with the
Southeastern Michigan Section of IEEE for 22 years in various
positions, including all the Section officer positions; he is
presently the Section Advisor and still is intimately involved
with the operation of the Section and its pre-college education
programs.
Don has been actively involved as a volunteer with Region 4 of
IEEE for 14 years in several roles; he is presently the Region
Treasurer.
Don has also served as the Finance Chair for 6 IEEE Technical
Society and Region conferences.
Don is also an active member of the ESD (Engineering Society of
Detroit), NSPE (National Society of Professional Engineers), and
MSPE (Michigan Society of Professional Engineers). He is a Fellow
of MSPE and a member of the College of Fellows of ESD.
He is involved as a leader at the troop and district level with
the Boy Scouts of America and as a member of the Board of Deacons
at his church.
